Effective date: August 30, 2026
This policy explains what Internet Service Guide collects, why, and what you can do about it.
We have tried to write it in language you can actually read. If anything here is unclear, email hello@internetserviceguide.com and we will explain it and fix the wording.
The short version
This is a publication. You can read every article on this site without giving us anything at all. We do not run analytics, we do not run advertising trackers, there are no forms, and comments are switched off. We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
When you read the site. Our web host records standard server log information — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. This is how essentially every website works, and it is used for security and for diagnosing problems. We do not use it to identify you.
When you email us. Whatever you choose to put in the email, so that we can reply to it.
That is the complete list.
What we do not collect
We are stating these plainly because most privacy policies are written to cover everything a site might one day do, which makes them useless as a description of what is actually happening.
- No analytics. We do not currently run any analytics tool — not Google Analytics, not a privacy-focused alternative, none.
- No advertising trackers. No behavioural advertising networks, no third-party ad pixels, no advertising profiles.
- No forms. We do not operate service request forms, quote forms, or newsletter signups. If you have not emailed us, we do not have your name, address, or phone number.
- No comments. Commenting is disabled across the entire site, so there is no comment data to collect.
- No sale of personal information, to anyone, ever.
When any of this changes, this page changes first. We intend eventually to add analytics, and to add forms that let you request internet service and be contacted by a provider. When we do, this policy will be updated before those go live, and it will say exactly what is collected, what is shared, with whom, and how to stop it. We will not quietly start collecting more than this page describes.
Cookies
The site’s own theme sets no cookies.
WordPress, which the site runs on, sets a session cookie if someone logs in to administer the site. As a reader you will not be logged in, so you will not receive one.
Because we run no analytics and no advertising, there are no tracking cookies to consent to. That is also why you are not seeing a cookie banner — we would rather not have the cookies than have a banner apologising for them.
Who we share information with
- Our web host, Namecheap (EasyWP), which stores the site and its server logs.
- Anyone we are legally required to share it with, in response to a valid legal request.
That is the complete list as of the effective date above.
How long we keep it
Server logs are held by our host under their own retention schedule; we do not maintain a separate copy and we do not mine them.
Email correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful to the conversation it belongs to, and no longer than we have a reason for.
Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@internetserviceguide.com and we will respond within 30 days.
In practice, unless you have emailed us, the honest answer is that we hold nothing about you beyond our host’s server logs.
Depending on where you live you may have additional legal rights — including under the California Consumer Privacy Act, or the GDPR if you are in the UK or EU. We honour these requests whether or not those laws formally apply to us, because arguing about thresholds is not a good look for a consumer site.
Your browser may send a Global Privacy Control signal. We honour it. Since we run no tracking, there is nothing for it to switch off, but the commitment stands as the site grows.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS on every page. Administrative access is restricted, file editing from the dashboard is disabled, and the XML-RPC endpoint — a common attack surface — is closed. Our host provides a web application firewall, malware scanning, and daily backups.
No website can promise perfect security, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change we will update the effective date and say what changed. For anything significant — particularly any new collection of personal information — we will say so on the site rather than relying on you to re-read this page.
